Mr. S. B. Joshi was 1927 alumnus of COEP and President of Institution of Engineers, Pune in 1954-55. He framed the rules, regulations, clauses and codes of Indian Road Congress. The S.B. Joshi Memorial Award for Excellence in Bridge and Structural Engineering was instituted in 1995 through the contributions of engineers from M/s S.B. Joshi and Company for the “S.B. Joshi Smriti Puraskar”. This award honors one outstanding Bridge and Structural Engineer every year. Mr. S. B. Late Shri S.B. Joshi was an esteemed alumnus of this college, and his exemplary work in bridge construction stands as a testimony to precision, economy, and excellence. The award comprises prize money, a memento, a citation, and a scroll of honor. It remains one of the most significant annual activities of the Alumni Association of COEP.
